Important boundaries between peer coaching, education, personal experience, clinical care, crisis response, and emergency services.
Not medical or clinical treatment
Personal stories, peer support, education, speaking, and recovery coaching on this site do not replace licensed medical, psychiatric, psychological, substance-use-disorder, legal, or emergency services.
No clinician-patient relationship
Using the site, submitting a question, or speaking with Brian does not create a clinician-patient or treatment-provider relationship. Scope and qualifications should be clearly explained before any coaching engagement.
Emergency and crisis support
If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, call 911 or the appropriate local emergency service. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. For substance-use treatment information, contact a qualified local provider or the appropriate public resource.
Privacy boundary
Do not place medical records, diagnoses, treatment details, or other protected health information in the public Ask Brian or Contact forms. A public website form is not a clinical intake system.
Individual results
Recovery is personal and outcomes differ. No story, coaching relationship, program, meeting, or resource can guarantee sobriety, health, safety, employment, restored relationships, or another result.
Community and connection
The purpose of recovery-oriented content is to encourage honesty, connection, accountability, service, and appropriate support—not to diagnose or prescribe.
